Reuters Group plc announces that on 17 December 2007 it purchased for cancellation 1,000,000 of its ordinary shares from JP Morgan Cazenove Limited at a price of 605.9668p per share.

Following the above purchase the total number of ordinary shares in issue (excluding 135,860,000 shares held as treasury shares) is 1,269,204,207.
