London--Reuters shareholders approved the resolutions in connection with the proposed scheme of arrangement and return of capital at a Court Meeting and an Extraordinary General Meeting held in London today.

Subject to confirmation by the Court of the reduction of capital and its sanction of the scheme on Monday 16 February 1998, the return of capital is expected to proceed according to the following timetable:

Tuesday 17 February 1998

Record Date and last day of dealings in Reuters Holdings shares

Wednesday 18 February 1998

Dealings in new Reuters Group shares commence on the London Stock Exchange and in new ADSs on NASDAQ/NMS

Wednesday 25 February 1998

Payment of cash entitlements.
