Thomson Acquires MercuryMD, Inc.

   Acquisition Advances Thomson Strategy to Improve Outcomes by Integrating
               Clinical Knowledge Into the Clinician's Workflow

STAMFORD, Conn., June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; Toronto: TOC), a leading global provider of integrated information solutions to business and professional customers, today announced that it has acquired MercuryMD, Inc., the leading provider of mobile information systems serving the healthcare market. Terms of the transaction were not released.

MercuryMD, based in Research Triangle Park, N.C., supplies healthcare providers with mobile solutions to improve clinical workflow and operational efficiencies. The employees of MercuryMD, including founders Drs. Alan Ying and William Lawson, will become employees of The Thomson Corporation.

MercuryMD will become part of Micromedex, a Thomson Scientific and Healthcare business. Micromedex is the leading provider of integrated clinical knowledge solutions, and its products are the preferred resource for more than 3,400 hospitals throughout North America. Together, they will leverage their content, technology and expertise to provide evidence-based clinical knowledge integrated into tools such as laptops and PDAs. The combination of high quality clinical decision support and point-of-care tools will help healthcare professionals improve patient outcomes, clinical safety, and quality of care while managing costs.
