The Real ACT(R) Prep Guide is the only official preparation guide and includes 3 real ACT tests.

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J., Feb 08, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Thomson Peterson's, a leading provider of test preparation, financial aid, and college search services, and part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC), today announced that it has been chosen by ACT, Inc., a non-profit educational assessment company, to publish The Real ACT Prep Guide, the only ACT test-preparation book created by the makers of the ACT Assessment.

The only ACT book to contain three actual ACTs used in previous test administrations, The Real ACT Prep Guide is now available in bookstores and replaces ACT's previously published guide, Getting into the ACT. In addition to the three real ACT exams, The Real ACT Guide also includes advice and instruction for the new optional writing test and test-taking strategies.

The ACT Assessment contains four sections: English, math, reading, and science. The new optional Writing Test, scheduled for first implementation on February 12, 2005, is designed to measure a test taker's ability to organize and write essay under timed conditions.

There were an estimated 1.2 million test takers during the 2003-2004 school year, nearly as many who took the SAT. More than 98% of accredited four-year colleges accept the ACT for admission purposes, and the test is administered in all 50 states.

"It's hard to beat practicing with actual ACT tests," said Del Franz, Editor-in-Chief at Thomson Peterson's. "And as more students become aware that increasing numbers of institutions are accepting both the SAT and ACT, this book can only increase in value."

Thomson Peterson's The Real ACT(R) Prep Guide (ISBN 0-7689-1975-4, $19.95 US/$29.95 CAN) is available wherever books are sold.
